Cranial Sacral Osteopathy

Cranial Sacral Osteopathy

Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle, manual form of osteopathic treatment that works on the fluid system surrounding the brain as well as the brain itself, dura, and spinal cord. While it has become associated with treatment of babies and children, it is highly effective in treating conditions in people of all ages.

The cranial sacral system has a natural rhythm that can be felt throughout the body. Using a light touch, our skilled practitioners feel the slight movement of the bones, the way the membranes move, and the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) as it circulates around the brain. This allows them to identify area of stress or strain that are negatively impacting health.

Once the restricted area has been identified, they use precise, minute movements and intention to influence the rhythm through the bones of the skull or the sacrum (pelvis). Most people are surprised at the gentle contact and lightness of touch during the treatment.

After treatment the body will continue to make changes within itself for quite some time as the membranes and tissues resolve their long held tensions. Long held problems, or problems that are multifaceted may take several treatments to resolve.
