Infrared Sauna
Infrared therapy has been used for over 40 years for its healing properties. In an infrared sauna, the body is warmed up directly by the emanation of infrared rays like the sun warming our body on a cold winter’s day. Penetrating the skin up to 2 inches deep, the warming effect happens as blood vessels dilate from inside to heat your core which stimulates you to sweat out more toxins that a regular sauna would.
Infrared therapy can be used to treat stress, fatigue, chronic pains, arthritis, muscular pain, respiratory conditions, strengthen the immune system, repair damaged tissues and reduce cellulite.
The Benefits of Treatment
Detoxification
Sweating is the body’s safe and natural way to heal and stay healthy. Infrared sauna encourages a higher metabolic rate that results in a deep, detoxifying sweat that eliminates stored toxins.
Pain Relief
Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other muscular-skeletal ailments.
Weight Loss
Studies have shown that a 30 minute session can burn up to 300 calories! As the body works to cool itself, the increase in the metabolic rate, heart rate, and endocrine glands causes the body to burn more calories.
Reduce Recovery Time
Infrared heat stimulates vasodilatation of peripheral blood vessels, bringing oxygen to joints and extremities, speeding the healing of sprains and strains, relieving pain, and reducing the time it takes to recover from injuries.
Heart Health
Infrared therapy induces a deep sweat which makes the heart pump faster, which in turn, increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure, and helps circulation. It has been used to treat high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure.
Relaxation
Infrared is a gentle, soothing, and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep. The rebalancing of the body’s hormones through it’s effect on the autonomic nervous system, reduces the negative physical impact of stress on the body.
Improved Skin & Reduced Cellulite
Infrared therapy has been shown to relieve acne, psoriasis, burns, eczema, as well as decreasing scarring. It also helps eliminate toxins trapped near the surface of the skin to decrease cellulite and
Improved Circulation
Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen in exercise resulting in a better blood circulation and an overall improved metabolism.
Improved Immune System
By raising you core temperature thus mimicking a fever, our body’s natural healing response, infrared therapy stimulates and strengthens your immune system.
Preparing for Your Treatment
How long will the session be?
Sessions start around 30 minutes and can be up to an hour but are typically no longer than 45 minutes. Your practitioner will recommend an appropriate length of time for you.
What should I expect?
As infrared therapy promotes perspiration, we encourage you to drink 8 – 12 glasses of water per day and to take water into the session with you. You should be drinking at least one litre of water for each hour in the sauna or a cup of water for every 10 minutes. We will provide you with alkaline water from the Kangen Water System and CELLFOOD drops to help hydrate you and restore electrolytes after your session.
What should I wear?
It is best to wear as little clothing as possible to get the full benefit of the treatment. We recommend a bathing suit. For sanitary reasons, some clothing must be worn.
Towels will be provided.
